The BC Unclaimed Property Society is governed by the Unclaimed Property Act and Unclaimed Property Regulations.

The Unclaimed Property Act provides the statutory framework for the regulation of unclaimed property in BC.  The Act was proclaimed in July 2000, replacing the Unclaimed Money Act .  The purpose of the legislation is to unite owners with their unclaimed property held by government and non-government holders.
